**Playtest: Save Penalties**
Under this variant, spells and effects don't save versus Stat/2. Instead, they save versus stat minus the Save Penalty of the caster or effect:
Save Penalty: This ability affects how difficult spells, powers, special abilities and items used by the character are for other creatures to resist. A character's Save Penalty is equal to character level times two. Whenever the character uses a special ability or item, the target must roll versus the indicated save stat minus the character's Save Penalty. Everyone always has at least a 5 percent chance to save versus a given effect under normal circumstances. Other effects a character encounters on his adventures, such as traps and poisons, will also have Save Penalties.
**Healing**
When spending the night away from the Parthenon, characters recovery lost energy and health to different degrees depending on their condition:
- Characters resting in good conditions (an indoor, decently-clean bed with a good meal) recover a percentage of their total Stamina equal to their Endurance, and all Power.
- Characters resting in adequate conditions (camping out with a bedroll and food to eat) recover a percentage of their total Stamina equal to half their Endurance, and all Power.
- Characters resting in poor conditions (no bedroll, or no food, or sleeping outside in hostile weather, or being unable to sleep for some reason) recover no Stamina, one-third of their total Power, and may suffer additional penalties upon waking.
**The Parthenon**
In all my events, it shall be presumed that the Parthenon is laid out like this:
{{image url="http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/23478/Parthenon2dstable.jpg"}}
The second floor, unshown, is entirely private rooms and hallways. There is a hallway wrapping around the ring allowing people to view events in the ring from above, three-quarters of the way around. The ring itself is pretty bare bones; most of the barrier surrounding the ring is magic, when raised for fights or other dangerous activities. This barrier stops effects from inside the ring affecting anyone or anything outside the ring. It is not possible to teleport into or out of the ring while the wards are raised.
The outside of the Parthenon shall be presumed to look something like this:
{{image url="http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/23478/Parthenon3dT.jpg"}}
The outside of the building is made of stone, the roof of tile. The dome over the ring is magically-reinforced glass, such that it doesn't break during routine ring spars. The attached stable is made of wood.
Under other GMs, the Parthenon is presumed defined only by the needs of plot, unless specified otherwise.
