Winter Wolf

image

Appearance: Adult winter wolves measure eight feet long and four feet tall at the shoulder. They weigh approximately 450 pounds. Their luxuriant fur is glacial white with blue or ivory undertones; their eyes are a burning, wintry blue. Their teeth and claws are semi-translucent, as if cut from ice.

Known Behaviors: Winter wolves are smarter and more aggressive than their lowland cousins. Among their own kind, they are playful and even affectionate, and live in clearly established pack hierarchies led by a mated alpha pair. They often make alliances with other evil creatures in the frostfell, serving as guardians or hunting partners, although they are never to be treated lightly or taken for granted like dogs. Winter wolves often live and work with frost giants.

Canny hunters, winter wolves employ the same cooperative pack-hunting tactics as their smaller lowland cousins, but their breath weapons and increased size gives them a broader range of options for dealing with more formidable prey. Winter wolves are also fond of training their young by running individual humans out into the wilderness and having the puppies play-stalk this terrified and desperate "game."

Known Range: Spinning Winds, White Seas region.
