Vaiyad Ashtree is known in courtly circles as a refined gentleman of independent means, and in the underworld as one of the more powerful members of the Kliastan temple. He maintains a small, tasteful house in one of the better parts of the New City, where he lives alone but for his servant Rukhas, an unusually pale Andatiger. Although Vaiyad has been married several times, none of the relationships has lasted longer than a year; misfortunes seem to befall his wives, and the man has been widowed at least four times. Nonetheless, he enjoys great success in his courtships when he chooses to pursue them.
Vaiyad is a middle-aged man of unexceptional height and build. He dresses well but not ostentatiously, favoring dark and muted colors in his clothing. He is not much of a social butterfly, and seldom ventures far from his residence, where it is said that he pursues subjects of academic and scientific interest.
