Back to PGMs, Thrice's Upcoming Tourneys

PGM Thrice's House Rules

Miscellaneous Rulings:

Attacks in Flight: Attacks made while in mid-flight suffer -10 CA. This penalty does not apply to natural weapons. Only small thrown missile weapons (BC6 or less) may be used in flight. (No bows, crossbows, or large thrown weapons.) Melee weapons may be used, but slashing and bludgeoning weapons deal half damage due to lack of proper leverage. Attacking with a melee weapon during a round will allow characters within 25' of your target to attack you with melee weapons during that round. These penalties do not apply to levitation or other magical effects that allow a character to be "at rest" in mid-air.

Casts in Flight: Spells cast while in mid-flight suffer -10 MA. Spells with S components cannot be cast while in flight. These penalties do not apply to levitation or other magical effects that allow a character to be "at rest" in mid-air.

Ignition: Ignition (and similar recurring damage effects) do not stack with one another unless they are different damage types. (Corrosion and Fire would stack, Fire and Fire would not.) Ignition rolls will still be allowed on already ignited targets to potentially extend the duration of the ignition.

Tourneys:

My tournaments will be structured a bit differently than those of other GMs. They are intended to run short, around 3 hours. So once I've grabbed sheets, if the PCs are on the road by 8 or 8:30, that means I'm aiming to end by 11 or 11:30. I'm not above docking xp for any egregious delays that push the group past this time frame. At the same time, if the tourney runs long because of issues on my end and I didn't warn you all about it in advance, it will tend to be worth more xp as compensation. My tourneys are also intended to have smaller groups. As a general rule, I won't be running events for more than 4 PCs. This is partially to keep the tourneys under the general 3 hour time limit, and also to force PCs to actually role-play and make decisions. Lurking and/or playing by proxy will get your xp docked.

I will try to post IC contracts for the PCs to pursue as tourney lead-ins. They'll sometimes be on the SW/CG boards, but many will be available to any PC. The contracts will include basic information about the type of skills needed to complete the tourney as well as the number of PCs recommended for the event. If I say I want 2 stealthy types and you bring 4 meat shields (or 1 stealthy type and 1 clunky, armor wearing noise maker), you're probably going to fail. If you do succeed but bring along too many people, the loot intended for fewer PCs will just end up being spread a little thin. If a contract is up on the boards, it means I'm ready to run it. You can either email me with an interested group before my shift to let me know, or get one together in the inn during my shift. People who email me in advance have dibs, but either of the following things will lead to my annoyance and possible xp deductions: 1) receiving emails from more than one PC in a potential group or 2) groups taking on a tourney but then failing to show.

SW/CG Contracts:

Tourney lead-ins follow the rules above. I will also be running board-play contracts. These will employ the same rules and guidelines as Velk's. In order to differentiate posted lead-ins from board-play opportunities, the lead-ins will use a "Tourney:" header while board-play will use a "Contract:" header.
