Tharacia

The Gilded Lady, Queen of Pleasure and Indulgence, Wealth's Plaything

Hedonism and sensual gratification are the twin virtues of Tharacia's faith. Her Temples are palaces of perfumed draperies and silken cushions, priceless artworks and expensive wines. Her clerics are exclusively female, selected for charm and beauty rather than piety in any traditional sense; males are relegated to playing the role of temple guards.

The Queen of Pleasure and Indulgence lives up to her name: any and all of the gentler vices can be purchased at her Temples. Gambling, liquor, gourmet dining, and attractive devotees, male or female -- all are readily available to any visitor who can offer the right price. And it is a very high price indeed, as the tastes of Tharacia's followers run to the top end of the upscale market.

While she is certainly vain and frivolous, there is no cruelty in Tharacia or her worshipers. The gilded Temples are places of laughter and light-hearted revelry; her role is to indulge certain desires in a sophisticated manner. Consequently, Tharacians are found only in large and affluent cities, or near hot springs and other natural resorts where they can draw enough income to support their sybaritic lifestyle. Tharacia is not a warlike goddess, and has little interest in the conflicts between the good or evil deities except insofar as they inconvenience her by disrupting trade routes and making luxuries scarce with their bickering.
