Guard Captain Zeig Pelfrey

History:
Zeig's nefarious past is an open legend among the Couer, granting him a sort of mythical status among many of it's citizens. Born and raised in a ramshackle orphanage in the worst of the South Side's dens, Zeig was a member of the Black Dogs. He still bears the gruesome tattoos of membership and takes great pains to display them. He is greatly popular among the guardsmen that serve him and their Captain spends lavishly on feasts, holiday pay and worse, in return.

Law:
Ever a man for publicity and image, Zeig is an infamous player in both the Court and Underworld, often serving as the only legal conduit for those who desire the appearance of legality or simply are too removed from the machinations to have any true connections themselves. Still, many on both sides are wary of his intentions and more than a few bureaucrats have been locked away by the King's Men as their previously sanctioned indiscretions were brought to light by Zeig's long memory.

Relationships:
To most of his fellow Guard Captains, Zeig is the least of their problems. Apathetic at best toward the goings on of Justice, the Guard Captain is happy enough to defer responsibility to those who would bother to take it, most often Marcel Faith. His colleagues are wary enough to take him as an ally that they keep him out of most of their plans, and, in some ways, the South Guard has become the personal vassalage of Zeig. Even Barten Teflin rarely asks anything of the man. So long as the South does not burn, it is Zeig's problem.
