Skills without a stat are not teachable with the exception of Weapon Proficiencies. For these, a character may teach three levels lower than his current Weapon Proficiency. For example: Someone with Weapon Proficiency IV may teach Weapon Proficiency I.

Additions:
General Skills are usually “accessory” skills which augment a character's adventuring experience. Most aren't entirely necessary for a character, but a number are useful in survival situations—you wouldn't want to go for a sail in the ocean or ford a stream without knowing at least the basics of swimming. When choosing general skills for your character a good rule of thumb is to either take “survival” skills, such as swimming, climbing or leaping, or to take the most expensive skill of a number you wish, as you can purchase others later. General skills are so-named because every class has a number of general skill slots which they can fill with any of these skills. All general skills can be selected as a "professional" skill, in lieu of another selection, and gain the usual +15 bonus where applicable.

Skills represent your character's areas of expertise, whether it be in creating magical potions, fighting blindly, or disarming traps.
- **Type:** General or Professional. (At creation, general skills are open to every class, while professional skills are restricted. After creation, all skills become available for purchase reguardless of what type they are.)
- **Openable:** Some skills can be aquired through hard-pressed experience on a tourney. Openable skills will list the stats used to gain the skill. Example: Swimming can be opened on (Ag+End)/10. If your character ends up in a situation where he needs to swim, or he will drown, he can attempt to open swimming. On an open attempt, a d100 is thrown. For the sake of the example, we'll say your character has an Agiliy of 60, and an endurance of 40. (60+40)/10 = 10. So, in this example, you would need to roll under a 10 to open up the swimming skill.
- **Stat at Purchase:** Purchased skills will start at this stat.
- **DP ratio:** Like your other stats, skills have development point ratios and can be increased at level up. See [[Advancement Advancement]] for more details.
- **Purchase Price:** How much it costs to buy the skill from the Market.
