Just what is definitely a Batik
Above a thousand years ago the folks of Java, an island in the East Indies, required to put photos in the fruits, blossoms, and birds which they observed close to them on their apparel. They knew that wax would resist water, so they covered the types they had designed over the cloth with melted wax. When the wax had been stiffened the material was dipped into a cool dye constructed from vegetables and fruits. After the wax was eliminated by shedding it once more with very hot drinking water, the light photographs showed clearly versus the dyed, colored background. At this time this system, likewise since the cloth alone, is referred to as baju batik.
