==The Four Children of Creation==
As a rule, the four elemental deities do not concern themselves overmuch with the affairs of mortals. Separate religious orders exist for each of the four primary elements—for example, most major ports have temples honoring Vellunan, and the Spinning Winds have long been a stronghold of Lucia's clergy—but they are equally often worshiped as a collective.

=====__Religions__=====
In the world of Parthos, religion is not a matter of belief -- even those who do not worship any gods still believe in them. Instead, it is a matter of allegiance. Nearly all of the major religions, therefore, are monotheistic. The deities venerated by these religions are listed below.

=====__**Four Children of Creation**__=====
__**Gnorr**__
Stolid and slow to change, the god of elemental Earth is commonly regarded as the dullest of the Four. His is the smallest clergy, with members drawn largely from dwarves, gnomes and the subterranean races. Although he is usually portrayed by the uninitiated as an unglamorous and slow-witted god, those who worship him are aware that precious metals and jewels also fall into his domain. Gnorr's temples are marvels that few surface-dwellers ever see, ranging from cathedral-sized caverns with dappled limestone ceilings to edifices supported by pillars of petrified wood and streaked with veins of gold ore. Fittingly, the geode is the symbol of Gnorr's faith: unprepossessing on the outside, it reveals a sparkling and sharp-edged interior to those perceptive enough to cut beyond surface appearances.
* Alignment: Neutral
* Colors: Gray and brown
* Symbols: A geode or an emerald
__**Lucia**__
Worshiped mainly by zephyrs, the goddess of Air shares many traits with the feathered folk. She is known to be fickle in her favors, changing direction as rapidly and unpredictably as the wild wind. Lucia is easily distracted, and while she is capable of great bursts of energy—as powerful as tornadoes over land or hurricanes whipping up the sea—they are never very steadily directed and dissipate as soon as her attentions are drawn to something else. The goddess prefers holy places that are left wide open to her sacred winds, and for this reason her temples are usually constructed on remote, lofty mountaintops. Lucia's temples always have at least one high tower reaching towards the skies, but except for the towers, they are built as open-air structures with a minimum of enclosed space.
* Alignment: Neutral
* Colors: Sky-blue and white
* Symbols: A lightning bolt or a feather
__**Tzaltos**__
Of the Four, Tzaltos commands the greatest individual following. The god of elemental Fire is temperamental and can be nearly as capricious as Lucia; however, his destructive tendencies are far stronger than the goddess'. His sacred places are centered around volcanic steamvents, hot springs, and pillars of flame created by ignited swamp gas. While Tzaltos also has dedicated temples scattered in several cities, these tend to be viewed askance by local authorities—the presence of Tzaltos' worshipers often goes hand-in-hand with a mysterious increase in arson incidents.
In part, it is the power and beauty of Fire that accounts for Tzaltos' popularity, but the theological reasons run deeper than that. The similarity between living flame and living creatures—both needing food and air to survive, reproducing themselves so long as there is fuel to sustain their increases, and losing some undefinable warmth and animated essence when they die—has long been a subject of religious interpretation, and remains one of the central mysteries of the faith. Each of his temples keeps an Eternal Flame burning at its center; if the Flame is ever allowed to die, the worshipers abandon that temple as forsaken by their god.
* Alignment: Neutral
* Colors: Red and orange
* Symbols: A solitary flame or a man aflame
__**Vellunan**__
The Queen of the Seas, goddess of elemental Water, Vellunan is venerated primarily in coastal cities and among creatures which actually dwell in rivers or oceans. Her realm extends to cover water in all its forms, but her greatest temples are located in ports—or in the legendary underwater cities of the merfolk. She is normally a patient, placid goddess, nurturing an astonishing variety of life beneath the peaceful swells of her waves. On the rare occasions when her wrath is aroused, however, it rises with all the terrible force of a tidal wave. Sailors regularly make offerings to Vellunan before setting sail, as the goddess has been rumored to take offerings by capsizing ships that failed to pay an adequate price for the privilege of crossing her domain.
* Alignment: Neutral
* Colors: Green and blue
* Symbols: A drop of water or a great wave
