****
**Weapons**: Still wielding the same sword and bow he came to the Coeur with.

**Background**: Phileas was born into a large farming family in the Northwest. Inept at working the fields or barns, he was sent to town to earn wages at an Inn while still a boy. He helped in the stables, kitchen, and cleaning.

Ironically, he was put in charge of the dairy cows, at least until the Inn was visited by the Great Humboldtus, a singer from Ardashir, or so he claimed. Humboldtus, or Boldti, as Phileas later came to know him, enchanted the young innkeeper’s assistant with a vast storehouse of lore, wisdom, and stories. Phileas received quite a few beatings that night as he neglected duty after duty to listen to whatever the bard sang. When Boldti left the next morning, Phileas was carrying his luggage.

The Great Humboldtus, otherwise known as Fishryce the Wanderer, Ichyllanian the Charming, or Trumpet the Great, depending on his audience, was a master of improvisation. He never sang the same song twice, although he insisted to his dying day that every word he uttered was true, including his credit status. After Phileas, now growing his first beard, agreed to take on Boldti’s debts, he experienced his first great disillusionment.

Taking to the roads to avoid Humboldtus’ creditors, Phileas hoped to live the life of a wandering bard. He sought to make a name for himself, a path which ended in his first stint in a workhouse for minor crimes that are best left off the historical record. When he had passed through his adolescence and earned his freedom, Phileas again took to the road, but found that without having already being famous, a living was hard to earn. Fortunately, he happened to be traveling with a caravan of pilgrims that was led by a lady who loved a good tale. During that long month, Phileas invented several true romances that kept Lady Isabel hooked. As soon as the lady had ritually thrown her diamonds from the mountain, Phileas was offered a stable job as her household’s resident bard.

Lord Vrein’s estate was sprawling and idyllic. The Lord oversaw a number of specialty farms, orchards, and gardens. At last, Phileas was settled in and at peace. He hated it. After biding his time chirping away singing charming little love songs to the women and bawdy tales of adventure to the men, Phileas leapt at the chance to run away. He took his vielle and headed for the Coeur, hoping to either live and epic or write one.

**Associates**: Not well known in the Parthenon, Phileas has worked with (paid for) Brielle Noel, Nimea Sylvannos, and Rolo Empytbottle. Other than that, he is largely on his own.
****
**Skills & Services**: Phileas can sing and entertain. Prices are always low and negotiable.
