Guard Captain Mercel Faith
History:
Rumored to have been the bastard son of an Athyrian cleric, hence the somewhat ironic choice of surname, Marcel is an enigmatic figure of ruthless cunning and unparalleled political survival. He was legitimized some years ago by a minor Lord from Tarrybuck and then married a wealthy widow nearly twice his age. He is also a frequent and enthusiastic supporter of the Tharacians. An entire wing of the temple is named in his honor and its no stretch of imagination to assume his patronage mostly supported its construction.
Law:
Concerning his application of justice and the law, Marcel perhaps best typifies the general ethos of the North Watch. He has led several investigations into a few minor noble houses for graft and exposed a spy ring that had infiltrated the court leading to a few executions. It is no accident that the holdings and titles were transfered to Marcel's supervision.
Relationships:
To call Marcel and Bartel Teflin's relationship strained would be an understatement. The two men loathe each other and the friction between the two has served as a constant source of tension within the guard and has resulted in a great waste of resources and personnel. And although the North Watch and South Watch Captains serve at the leisure of the Guard Commander, Bartel has not attempted to oust Marcel. The reason for the Guard Commander's lack of initiative is baffling which has led to much speculation.
