Overview
The Assassins' Guild
Only Anvhad the Shadow Network rivals the Assassins' Guild for secrecy and fear-fueled rumor in the city. No one knows exactly how many assassins are in the guild's employ, nor who leads them or how they choose their targets. They never communicate directly or identify themselves to a client, and their lips remain magically sealed after death. So secretive are they that merely finding someone who knows how to contact the Assassins' Guild for a job is difficult.
The Blind Ravens
Headed by the reclusive druid Bensozia, the Blind Ravens specialize in the procurement, refinement, and distribution of illegal narcotics throughout the city. They are a very small guild but a very wealthy one, with a network of contacts and sellers throughout the Coeur's upper class. They rely on Devora's Silverpaws for muscle. Chwidhym, an eccentric goblin with an artificially pink complexion resulting from too many experimental anti-greening skin treatments, serves as their primary frontperson. He runs the Snakeleaf Apothecary in the Old City, and is rumored to be able to get his hands on most drugs and poisons in the Coeur... for the right price.
Devora's Silverpaws
The Silverpaws are by far the largest thieves' guild not only on the North Side but in the Coeur as a whole. They engage in everything from blackmail to forgery, theft to sabotage, and while they do not rely on violence as their chief means of getting things done, they are more than capable of protecting their interests. Rumor has it that the Silverpaws count several monsters among their number. Devora, their guildmistress, is known more for her ability to manage the disparate elements of her organization than for any personal talents as a thief.
The Open Ears
Derisively called "the Open Palms" by some, the Open Ears are information-brokers and collectors of rumors throughout the city. It is said that they can learn anything about anyone, if the client is willing to meet their fee. Jealous husbands and merchant captains use them to investigate everything from possible affairs to state treaties, though those of squeamish nature are advised not to look too closely at the Open Ears' methods. They were founded by a former Tharacian temple guard known as Jazhi, and continue to have strong connections to that temple.

As a rule, the North Side guilds tend to be larger, better-organized, and more stable than their counterparts to the south. Their criminal enterprises are more ambitious and reach further, and even when they engage in seemingly small-scale crime, such as cutting purses and pilfering valuables, they are able to tap into a network that allows them to fence something stolen in the Coeur three months later in Vtavia V'tavia.
