Nightblade
The Night Blade is the classic assassin, using stealth, poison, and murderously accurate strikes from ambush to eliminate her prey. Night Blades may cultivate outwardly bland or charming personas to conceal their true natures, or may instead seek to cloak themselves in auras of fear and shadowy menace to intimidate their foes. Very rarely, however, does a Night Blade choose to present herself exactly as she is. Manipulating information—both what she knows of others and what they know of her—is critical to the professional assassin.
Many Night Blades are loners in the underworld. A few are associated with various guilds and organizations, but the deadliness of their work means that they are rarely fully trusted. Those who take up adventuring are often the wild cards among their ilk—assassins who have tired of killing for money and wish to turn their talents to nobler ends, or those whose ambitions reach higher than emptying a guildmaster's chair.
Achieving success as a Night Blade is no easy task. Amateurs and bumblers do not survive long. The Night Blade's forte lies less in open combat than in the subtlety and precision of the professional hit, and the would-be assassin must be prepared to master a wide array of skills to accomplish her lethal ends. Where a warrior might wade fearlessly into the thick of combat, a Night Blade can ill afford to be so reckless: woe to the assassin who finds herself cornered face- to-face against a berserker in full rage. But woe, in turn, to the berserker if he crosses that assassin off the battlefield; the next meal he eats, or next nap he takes, may well be his last.
