Lust Sphere

Channels: Baoz, Bleggissammabub, Maol, Tharacia

1. No Obstacle to Desire - [White] [Invocation Cost: 1] [Special]
Invoking divine power to help him achieve his desires, the paladin gains a +10 bonus to overcoming one obstacle between him and the object of his desire. For example, a paladin of Bleggissammabub might use this bonus to disarm a trapped treasure chest. The obstacle must have an immediate bearing on the fulfillment of his desire (GM discretion). Invoking this Power does not require an action.

3. Contagious Enthusiasm - [Gray] [Cost: 1 per target] [Special]
Inspires others to share the paladin's desires, sweeping them up with shared enthusiasm and helping them surmount difficulties along the way. While this Power cannot induce an individual to join a cause that he finds repugnant, it can make indifferent participants enthusiastic. For example, while Contagious Enthusiasm could not make a Celestian knight join a Baozite raid against a defenseless village, it could inspire an ordinarily Neutral mercenary to new heights of bloodlust and pillaging.

While characters are under the influence of Contagious Enthusiasm, they gain a +10 bonus to init, CA and MA for actions undertaken in direct furtherance of the goal, as well as a +10 bonus to saves vs. effects that would hinder their goals. However, they suffer a -10 penalty to init, CA and MA if the fighting distracts from the goal.

Unwilling but susceptible targets may save vs. Will/2 to resist the effects of Contagious Enthusiasm. This Power lasts up to 10 minutes per paladin level or until the goal is achieved, whichever happens first.

5. Lust's Object - [Red] [Cost: 5] [10 minutes/level]
Imbues a single object or person with attractive force, such that those who encounter the affected item or being and are even slightly susceptible to its charms are smitten with the desire to possess it. The focal point of Lust's Object must have some objective value for this Power to function; it is not possible to make people desire wholly worthless things. The more attractive the focal point is in its own right, the stronger the Power's effect.

A save vs. Will/2 allows susceptible creatures to resist the effects of Lust's Object. This Power affects up to one person per paladin's level. It automatically affects those who encounter it first in time. Potential victims who make their saves count toward the limit. The paladin himself is not affected unless he chooses to be.

8. Fevered Longing - [Orange] [Cost: 5] [10 minutes + 1 minute/level]
Inflames the subject's appetites for one specific thing (food, money, sex, etc.) until the subject can concentrate on little beyond fulfilling his desires and immediately acts to do so. If it is not possible for the target to satisfy his desires promptly, or he is unable to do so without compromising deeply held beliefs (ex. a devout Athyrian paladin targeted with carnal desires), the subject will instead lapse into vivid daydreams about the fulfillment of his appetites and pay little attention to anything else for the duration.

This Power affects a single target within 100'. Fevered Longing lasts up to ten minutes plus one minute for each level of the paladin, up to a maximum of 30 minutes for a Level 20 paladin. The effects can be broken by obvious danger or magic such as Absolution, Dispelling, Restore Psyche, etc.

Fevered Longing has no effect on targets unable to understand the intended desire. For example, a lich is immune to the desire to eat; a mind flayer is immune to the desire for sex; a character from a bartering culture will be unable to comprehend money. Against such targets, this Power automatically fails. All other targets may save vs. Will/2 for no effect, with bonuses at GM discretion if the chosen desire is not one ordinarily felt by the target.

11. Bacchanal - [Yellow] [Cost: 1 per participant] [Special]
This ritual requires at least three participants, who need not be members of the paladin's faith but must be willingly involved (others, less willing, may be involved in some deities' variants). The bacchanal takes a full night and must be done in a secluded or remote location free from interruption. Elements of the bacchanal vary according to the faith and whims of the paladin conducting the ritual, but it is always a celebration of wild, orgiastic excess.

At the end of the night, the revelers may receive a blessing from their patron deity. This usually takes the form of temporarily heightened abilities (+20 to any stat other than Stamina or Power for BC4 days), but other benefits are sometimes bestowed by a particularly pleased -- or displeased -- god.

A character may only benefit from a bacchanal once per month; any more would simply be too exhausting.
