**Distinguishable Marks:** Kavval has spent most of his life in the hostile desserts of the Black Sands and carries the blemishes and calluses of a laborer and scholar. Tattooed on his left shoulder are crossed sickles over the insignia //bronia nin innais critha nin tas//, ‘endure my ideals, reap my labor.’
**Background:** Kavval is a member of the Ereb Guruth, a relatively small band of desert-dwelling holymen ceaselessly patrolling the unforgiving Black Sands. Migrating as far south as the Cathilcarn Mountains, the sect reveres the more aggressive tenets of Luorre. Famed as undead huntsmen and capable of traversing one of the harshest climates on earth, the Ereb Guruth maintains its mystique with sparse outside contact and plain, uniform appearances. Few master any specialties outside of divine craft; those refused the gift of divine blessing act as full-time laborers, shepherds, and hunters for the rest of the conclave. Unwanted children and orphans are adopted from the outside world and raised on the virtues of mortal simplicity, promises of eternal salvation for a well-lived life, and enduring work ethic.
Born to an Ardasi couple little more than children themselves, Kavval was left to the priests’ care only several weeks into life. Despite early promise in the divine arts, Kavval was encouraged to learn humility and the reward of hard work alongside the unblessed laborers of his clan. He spent his days practicing the divine arts and studying the word of his faith, while at night he would repair shelters and partake in hunting trips. As an aspect of his life-long devotion, the priest volunteered to undertake the path of the roniel, //they who have strayed//, to chase an unspecified personal truth. He is to remain a journeyer, seeking knowledge and the glory of his faith, until he is prepared to return to his enclave as an accomplished patriarch and one of few tribal leaders. This path to divinity is a notoriously dangerous one: few apprentices return from the enticing draw of civilization, and many succumb to faithlessness or death at the hands of a grim outside world.

Additions:
**Effects:** Clad in neutral tones and cool cloth, the priest remains in stark contrast to the urban lifestyle of the Coeur. He carries a sand-scarred quarterstaff and a number of short knives, but generally refrains from any vain costume. He is soft spoken and easily overlooked, flourishing chiefly in times of moral plight and hard-pressed combat.
