A young elf growing up in Xien Koto, a large Ihoshan city near the coast, showed great promise and dedication in his studies. His knowledge of the Weave far surpassed that of his peers and his insight on more advanced subjects urged his teachers to seek outside attention for him. He was granted a special invitation to the Tao Arkana, where he was brought under the tutelage of one, Kakusha Kisai. The man was an expert in many scientific fields and was currently researching a way to grant immortality to those who wished for it. But, as humans often do, Kisai died before reaching his goal. The elf assumed his master's mantle, declaring himself Kakusha Shokkou. In the Tao Arkana, the elf was taught the virtue of patience and a sound mind. He was also encouraged to find a spiritual channel for his magic, and found a more than acceptable match in the philosophies presented by Zhardis. While he never quite felt at ease with all of her methods, surely the desire to preserve life and knowledge cannot produce truly malevolent results in the right hands.

After nearly a human generation, Kakusha declared himself eligible for pilgrimage. For those at the Tao Arkana, the pilgrimage was the final, and most important step in becoming a true master in your field. The scholar leaves the college for a period no less than ten years. In that time, they are to continue their learning as they proceed through life. For the Way of Magic is not found completely in books, but in life itself as well. Should the scholar ever return, they present their findings to the council, and if it is approved, they are declared masters and offered a staff position in the Tao Arkana.
Kakusha's wanderings since beginning his pilgrimage have quickly led him to the Coeur, where he has taken to much study at the House of the Books whenever he is not seeking employment to cover his own personal research.
