Greater Vampire

Appearance: Greater vampires look much the same as they did in life. Undeath gives them only subtle changes: a paler complexion, an unearthly fluidity of movement, an eerie brightness to the eyes. Their presence becomes more imposing, and ordinary animals cringe away or go berserk at their scent. Most greater vampires are proud, vain beings -- the humble seldom seek to immortalize themselves through undeath -- and this is reflected in their dress and bearing.
Known Behaviors: The process of becoming a greater vampire is difficult and demanding; only individuals with great personal power can even attempt the transition. Almost all of them willingly chose undeath. Those who succeed in the transformation are the most intelligent, ambitious, and ruthless of the lot -- and once they have completed the journey into undeath, they have as long as eternity to perfect those qualities.
Few greater vampires have strong religious faith, and those who do are frequently conflicted between their nature and their allegiances. Undeath is rather at odds with joining one's god as a faithful follower in the afterlife. Many vampires, however, have a fascination with the trappings of religion even if they are not particularly devout believers, and make nominal gestures toward one or another of the evil deities.
An individual greater vampire's motivations are highly personal but always very strong; after all, they drove the person to choose eternity as a creature of the night. Most vampires are solitary, but a few seek out fellow vampires or other undead for companionship, and a still-smaller number deliberately form cabals to advance their mutual interests.
Known Range: Any.
