Gabriel Burken Dreamwalker

Name: Gabriel Burken Dreamwalker

(Sub-)Race: Human
Band: Orange
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 1" (1.85 m)
Weight: 190 lbs (86.4 kg)
Eyes: Teal
Hair: Brunet. Usually kept shaved, with the exception of a braided ponytail.
Complexion: Light to intermediate skin tone with a touch of olive apparent during warmer seasons.

Distinguishable Marks: Gabriel’s face is distinguished by two diamond-shaped tattoos. The terse explanations for these facets are notoriously inconsistent, ranging from stains of a drunken youth to the ritualistic trophies of the Himyari.

Origin and Background: Social scholars might suggest that Gabriel is the product of an impoverished urban area plagued by deficient law enforcement, where a cocktail of knavish brute force and adaptable level-headedness are requisites for survival. His spoken idiom and regularly-revealed insight indicate a Coeur origin; these features are emphasized by his ability to skillfully collaborate with members of almost every areal circle. Judging by his opportunistic tendencies, he probably spent his childhood as a waif or urchin dependent on scrap resources; given his low appreciation for life, these scraps may have been realized in a cutthroat environment. The sellsword is no outspoken witness of such theories: he is as likely to spin a story about life in the gutters as he is to believably suggest he is the Duke’s heir.

Occupation: As a young adult with more experience than roots, Gabriel earns as a mercenary. His street smarts grant him an advantage when dealing with the shadier necessities of a citified locale, making him a proficient bounty hunter, assassin, investigator, soldier, and duelist. Understandably, he rarely takes credit for his street-side accomplishments, sacrificing notoriety for anonymity, and despite his physical uniqueness he has been able to maintain a mostly-unknown report. The sellsword concedes to no permanent banner but his own, although he irregularly praises the moon-crazed Keros: a religion those familiar with the sellsword recognize is in conflict to his patient, careful cunning.

Preferences: Gabriel has little tolerance for the mysteries of magic, avoiding their unreliable nature in favor of his trusted abilities; he views those creatures dedicated to magic’s control as reckless or unreliable, enjoying their company only so long as it serves his immediate motives. The sellsword enjoys quiet solitude to the point of risking violence for its attainment, an unusually powerful characteristic for someone so attuned to congested city life. He openly detests poets, performers, and partisans who admire religious tenets too loudly.

Creed: A quick survey of the sellsword reveals a twisted sense of virtue. He is loyal only to the letter of his promises, and then only so far as it benefits him; he affronts the names of those who violate never-acknowledged agreements with inappropriate zeal. Gabriel is inconsistent, sometimes even transient, in his morals but regularly merciless in their pursuit.

Other Characteristics: The melodic quality of Gabriel’s voice, coupled with his practiced intonation, suggests he is an adequate vocalist. He relays confidence when he speaks, offers silence in the face of doubt, and exudes a persuasiveness that borders on the sublime. He has confessed an interest in wood-carving, an art he has little talent in but regularly practices, and has admitted to envy the ability of skilled engravers and masons.
