Elven Sub-races

Golden elves (Laurequendi)
Golden elves make for the finest mages, but they lack the athleticism of their brethren. They dwell almost exclusively within human cities, where they are relatively common, constituting 2-4% of the population. They are the shortest-lived of the elves, as they consider the higher planes their true home.

Golden elves have a reputation for vanity, but they are typically well meaning. The other races, when not simply in awe of the golden elves, often consider them rather patronizing. This is not entirely fair; most generously, the golden elves consider certain rare breeds of men their equals.

Silver elves (Ithildrim)
Silver elves are the most common elves in the world of Parthos. They have the best relations with other races, and are often found in the lands surrounding human cities. Within human cities, they are roughly as common as golden elves.

Coloring: pale complexion, hair ranging from silver to black to blue.
Height: 5'9 / 5'4

Night-elves (Núraquendi)
Night-elves, also known as deep elves, are by far the rarest elves in the world of Parthos. They are typically described as austere, single-minded, or simply unpleasant. Consequently, they have very poor relations with other races, and indeed with each other; it has been a very long time since the last night-elf was born.

The night-elves have a fear of death that is very uncharacteristic of their kin. Consequently, their lives are dictated by a restlessness and impatience more befitting a human. If given the choice, they commonly live for a thousand years or more. It is even rumored that a few of the first night-elves still live.

The night-elves produce the greatest scholars in the world, and rival the dwarves as craftsmen. Their obsessiveness, however, often leads them to corruption.

Height: 6'2 / 5'9
Examples: Fealoke

Wood-elves (Galadrim)
The wood-elves are second only to the silver elves in number, but many men will go their entire lives without seeing one. Many wood-elf clans are fiercely xenophobic, owing primarily to their isolation. Those in the smaller forests, however, often have great relationships with the humans and halflings who live nearby. In some cities (the Coeur, for example), wood-elves are as common as golden elves.

When not dealing with foreigners, wood-elves are known for their high spirits, their love of music, and their skill as hunters. As one might expect from such a contented people, they are not generally eager to depart the mortal realm. They commonly live for 900 years, and their kings for thousands.

Coloring: normal complexion, hair ranging from silver, sandy-blond, to brunette.
Height: 5'8 / 5'3

Celestial Elves (Ilumquendi)
Aloof and condescending, Celestial elves dwell almost exclusively in Tal'leuthilor, (one of the ancient strongholds of the former elven empire set deep in the Black Forest) outside of wayward settlements in other elven lands, delegations sent to the various races, or the occasional stray. The Celestial Elves are expert enchanters and sorcerers, having honed their magical crafts through thousands of years of experience, while their blademasters number amongst the worlds best.

Celestial Elves are haughty to a fault, as they believe most of the other races to be inferior, or infantile at best. Trade is tolerated due to the necessity/desire for some external goods, and is mostly conducted with the Dwarves of Durabar. This all encompanssing arrogance has lead to a stifling of innovation amongst the Ilumquendi. Average lifespan of 700 years, with notable exceptions.

Coloring: Pale complexion, with usually platinum, silver, or white hair, and matching colored eyes.
Height (male/female): 6'3 / 5'10
