Eladrin

image

Some say the elves were created in the image of the eladrin; others say that the fey spirits of wood and stream owe their forms to the grace and eerie beauty of these celestials. Certainly, eladrin show elements of fey magic in their appearance and manners, but if there is any reason beyond coincidence for the resemblance, they do not speak of it.

Eladrin dwell in the wild reaches of the Vale of Stars, where their dwellings of crystal and living wood surpass even those of the great elven cities for eldritch loveliness. Many eladrin shun even these homes, preferring to live in still more direct harmony with nature.

These celestials are great lovers of dance and music, both their own and that of the birds and beasts who fill the Vale's vast forests. They are utterly unrestrained in both their joys and their hatreds; their celebrations, as well as their war parties, can easily slip into frenzied bacchanals. Nonetheless, they remain creatures of unwavering good; no matter how chaotic their excesses, they never place unwilling participants or innocent creatures at risk.

All eladrins are capable of changing shape. Their alternate forms are usually those of celestial animals or else of raw natural forces, such as whirlwinds or pillars of flame.
