Dragons

Ancient and extraordinarily powerful, dragons are among the most fearsome creatures to walk the world. They ruled the seas and lands alike long before the first human king donned his crown, and though heroes have hunted down their number over the ages, they remain among the great powers of the cosmos. Only the mightiest fiends and angels can rival a wyrm in the fullness of its age.

Dragons are infamous for their greed, with good reason. Even the noblest of their kind prizes gold, gems, and enchanted objects; the wicked ones have laid kingdoms low to add to their hoards. Dragons seem to love treasure for its own sake. They do not spend their wealth, and if so much as a copper coin is stolen from them, they can spend decades plotting vengeance against the thief.

Both good and evil dragons exist, though the latter are by far the more numerous. All of them, even those who lair deep beneath the sea, are capable of flight. All of them, too, have at least one breath weapon. Fire, elemental cold, acid, and poisonous gases are the best-known of these.
