Divinities
"Divinities" are extraplanar beings native to one of the aligned planes -- either the Vale of Stars or the Abyss. They are creatures of pure good or evil, their essence linked to that of the realm from which they come. Many are ancient beyond telling, having existed well before the sphere they call Bierilon -- the world of mortals -- came into being. Others are young, mere infants in time, for new forms are constantly being spawned out of the chaos of the Abyss or anointed to join the ranks of the Vale.
All creatures classified as "divinities" serve one or another of the gods, though some of their masters have long been forgotten among mortals and others have yet to attain a significant following of souls. Divinities are generally more loyal than mortal servants, but it is not unknown for them to betray old masters and accept new ones, particularly among the evil and chaotic powers. Some are deeply fanatical, while others merely pay lip service to a lord's name while pursuing their own ends across the planes.
