//Taleweaver, the Poet, Lovers' Moon//

Symbolized by the blue moon, Cherek represents the serene, romantic and introspective aspect of the night. He is often credited with poets' inspiration and lovers' tenderness; his favor is sometimes invoked when composing song or verse. Under the light of the blue moon, outlines are softened, harsh edges blurred, and the mysterious allure of shadows heightened.

Peasant folklore claims that the night is safest when Cherek is full, and most dangerous when the blue moon is narrowed to a thin crescent. Whatever the truth of this, his priests observe ritual prayers following the phases of their moon. When Cherek waxes full, his blue-robed priests can often be seen wandering, lost in contemplation, under the light of their god.

Because he is essentially a god of poets and romantics, Cherek does not take an active part in the clashes between other deities. His followers are sometimes dismissed as moonstruck dreamers, and there is a certain truth to this characterization, but it would perhaps be more accurate to say that Cherek's worshipers simply find more meaning in a beautifully-played nocturne than in all the battlefields of the daylight world.
