Celestia
Lady of Light, Dawn's Blade, Queen of the Golden SkyGoddess of the sun, Celestia is at once a stern and gentle deity. Her circular, colonnaded temples are built of honey-colored Helia stone with sparing touches of gold leaf inside their domes. Worshipers offer ritual prayers to the goddess at dawn and sunset, following the course of their Lady across the sky.
There are two primary sects of Celestians, reflecting the dual role of the sun as gentle bringer of light and pure embodiment of burning fire. Many Celestians are not formally members of either order and incorporate elements of both into their personal beliefs; the goddess herself seems to favor both sects equally.
The yellow-robed Illuminers are peaceful folk, seeking to enlighten people with their pacifist teachings and banish the darkness of ignorance wherever they go. To them, Celestia represents the warm and welcome light of learning, piercing the dark fog of confusion and making true understanding possible. Many Illuminers are scholars and healers, working to enrich the communities in which they live.
The Heliae, named for the city where their order was founded, are holy warriors in the service of Celestia. They view themselves as akin to the sun's burning rays, striking out at evil's darkness and destroying it whenever possible. The Heliae are especially ferocious in fighting undead and other evil creatures which have a particular aversion to light; they regard this as a sign that their goddess has a special enmity for such monsters, and therefore consider it a holy duty to destroy them.
