Beastmaster
Beastmasters are men and women who share a special bond with the animals that fill this world. They are the wild men who inspire tales told to children to scare them away from the woods and the rangers who guard the wilderness against poachers. If a druid is ill at ease in the confines of a city, most beastmasters would rather cut off their hand than enter a city. However, not all beastmasters are wild men living on beds of dirt and fallen leaves. Some trainers of animals also share this special bond — elven falconers, halfling dogmasters, and especially equestrians.
Very few beastmasters take up a life of adventure. They often have little desire nor need of gold and the comforts of the civilized world. Fame among other men means as little to them as mathematics or the prevailing political climate. Some do adventure out of greed and the desire for something more. Others come into the cities to defend their beloved animals by actively hunting down the dangers and putting them to a stop at the end of a spear.
While the beastmaster must rely upon his strength for survival and makes a formidable opponent, he is not a master of arms and will not stand long against a well trained orcish warrior. His time is devoted to the animals around him and to honing his skills in tracking and foraging. His ability to communicate with animals makes him very useful in scouting foreign regions. As his bond with the animal spirits grows, he gains the ability to take on the traits of the animals and can even transform himself into a beast of the wild. Their weakness falls in their need to divide their training between physical stamina and combat prowess and spiritual meditation. When a beastmaster reaches the pinnacle of his skill, he is able to bond with an animal companion. A well-trained orcish warrior will think twice before attacking a beastmaster and his ursine companion.
