The central island, in contrast to the smaller outlying ones, is near impossible to reach, with accounts of its shores varying wildly by the source retelling the tale. Tartessian pirates are among the most common peddlers of these stories, spinning yarns of sea monsters roaming the waters around the island, hurricanes turned on their sides, and veils of the blackest clouds imagineable. There are also a few penny novels occasionally set in this locale, purporting one sensationalized idea or another, but with many areas in Parthysis brimming with fantastic realities, most readers prefer stories set in their own land.
