Background: Arturo was raised in The House of Books where his mother served as a librarian and his father researched Sorcery at the Collegium. When Arturo had turned seven, his father was in an accident involving his research and lost his wings and an arm in an explosion. The loss of his wings sent his father into a deep depression which caused him to die of grief a year later. Through his father's connections, Arturo was able to obtain enrollment in the Collegium. He was never the brightest person but he was very studious. Through hard work and aid from his mother he managed to stay above the average student and provide some competition to the brighter ones.
Upon his thirteenth birthday his mother died from the Red Spider, leaving him a permanent resident of the Collegium dorms. After this incident he started poring over forbidden tomes in the House of Books. His Collegium studies were set-back until he met his mentor, Nenta Pasentia. Nenta was a professor at the Collegium and she had noticed the zephyr's sharp senses. She decided to take him as an apprentice in her side-trade, investigations. Arturo joined Nenta in aiding guardsmen in investigations dealing in magic, ancient writings, and oddities. After several years under her tutelage, Nenta ordered Arturo to broaden his horizons and see what the world has to offer. Arturo remained at the Collegium as a teaching assistant, though he seems to wander off to various places that he learns might be interesting.
