Angels

Angels are among the noblest creatures of the Vale of Stars, the celestial realm that includes Amalthir, their holy city and the focal point of goodness in the cosmos. All angels are surpassingly beautiful; most appear as physically flawless humans or elves with great, feathered wings. Despite their radiance and grandeur, angels are never arrogant, though they can be proud.
The roles of angels are as varied as the nuances of goodness. Some are stern and warlike; others merciful and devoted to healing; still others occupy themselves with creating songs, art, and breathtaking architectural works to beautify the multiverse. While some angels are devoted servants of the goodly gods, others possess a more independent streak, and appreciate the benevolent rule of those powers but do not bow to it. This, like most small differences in the celestial realm, is tolerated freely.
Angels occasionally mount armed forays into the Abyss when a demon-lord threatens to attain such power that the precarious balance of the outer planes is imperiled, but they regard this as a last resort since it will unavoidably cause losses of their own number. Angels place great importance on each individual life, both their own and those of their gods' mortal faithful. Even one is never to be discarded lightly, and so they try to avoid combat unless no other option will suffice.
Good priests and paladins can request aid of angels through sanctified prayers. Unlike fiends, their obedience cannot be compelled; they either agree to help or they do not, and though they rarely refuse aid to the truly needy, they dislike frivolous calls.
